I have been up and down these past few weeks. I am falling in love with videos and playing peek-a-boo with writing. My head is full of ideas and I have taken some steps towards getting things in order.
However, I am having problems with the commitment part of creativity.
I dusted off my Commit30 book and plotted my goals for the rest of June. I even planned and tracked my activity for all of last week. However, I am in a new week now and I have not planned it out. What is the struggle? Well, I have to let go of mental blocks. My main one being, I am good with the big picture but I suck at the day to day details. Unfortunately, it is all in the details that help us move forward to achieving our goals.
My main goals fall into three categories: Health, Creativity, and Career. All three are big but actions can be taken to forward positive movement.
Health: My current focus is on creating better eating habits. Cooking more and taming my sweet tooth. Moving more and challenging myself to push past my comfort zone.
Creativity: Creating this blog and proactively writing instead of staying in my head. Being more systematic and purposeful in connecting with others as I tackle my goals.
Career: This falls into two buckets. 1. Leveling up my skillset in my current positions, actively learning more about my craft to incorporate in my current projects. 2. Reigniting my personal coaching business to the point it is incorporated fully into my life.
As I write this, I am still questioning why I am having such a hard time committing. Is it fear? Fear of success or failure, fear that others are becoming dependent on the promises I am making, fear of moving my life to the next level? I guess on some level all of them. However, fear has never stopped me from doing what I want, and the reality is I want the next level.
So, I guess my real challenge is to acknowledge when I am knowingly dodging tasks that are needed to move me forward and really analyze why. I also need to do some internal work regarding my goals and the importance of achieving them.
I also continue to feed my passions. I actually wrote this blog in my writing group this morning and created some coaching scenarios to start posting on my coaching page. Moving forward feels good.
That Lopsided Life is created just for this reason. For me to do the work necessary to get to the next level. So, whether good, bad, or ugly I commit to continue moving forward. The website is still coming. I will launch it on July 5, 2019. So, stay tuned and be good to yourself and others!
