Do you have the space to create?

It was so exhilarating to post that video on Monday. I was on a roll. Taking ownership of my actions for this blog. I also set a stake in the ground: That Lopsided Life will post every 2nd and 4th Friday. I said that and totally disregarded everything else in that video. Especially, having the space to create!

I posted that video on Monday, right before I hopped on plane to Burbank, off to teach in Pasadena for four days. I arrived home late Thursday night and Friday was work. Friday night I crashed. So, in essence, I didn't factor in my actions of the week to be able to meet my own deadline.

This is not to say I did not take actions on my goal. I realized that I had committed to posting on Friday, not only to you, but also to my cohort from my CTI Co-Active Leadership Experience course. Some of which are not on Facebook. This sent me to look at websites and creating a more detailed To Do list and all that sucked up what little energy I had left. I am, however, happy to announce I got a full nights rest and I am ready to get back on track!

So let's talk about our goals and having space to create. Also, let's talk about how tasks to complete towards our goals can be distractions and muddy our perceptions of what we can accomplish.

  1. Having the space to create takes some planning. Setting task completion dates is important, but is two-part action. With that date, taking a realistic look at your calendar and what needs to be done from today to the date set is important. In addition, recurring tasks may need additional strategizing, Depending on your goals, you may have to take a look at bigger pictures of time to make sure you meet your deadlines.

  2. Using tasks as distractions. In February, leading up to my first blog post, I was in mourning and had been overwhelmed mentally. Creating a logo, buying a domain, even writing the first blog entry was soothing for me. My creative side was able to take over and allow me to connect with parts of myself that allowed me to find true peace for a moment. All of the work I did was good for me and ultimately good for my goal. When I sent invited my friend and the panic set in, it was because my goal was shifting to the portion what more energy was going to be needed to accomplish and sustain my goal. Energy I did not have. Be careful not to let the focus on your goals move you into a space where you are not ready.

In both of these situations, you can start to doubt whether you can accomplish what you said or even walk away because it is not going the way you wanted it to. Be confident you are on the right path and learn during your journey. It can only get better!

That's all for now. Have a great weekend! ❤️
